krpce

As part of project Krásná práce, I decided on the craft - shoemaking. My main goal was to redesign traditional Slavic shoes called krpce. These simple shoes from one piece of leather had been used for work, but later on even for traditional dancing ceremonies. My main inspiration was the front seam, which is typical for the shoes. The second main thing that I preserved was the fact that they can be made from one piece of leather. Traditional crafts create our national identity. I would be really glad if every time you put on these shoes you think about what it means to you to be a citizen of the Czech Republic.
