Next stop Transformation of the motorway

Prague's motorway, a key transport artery connecting north and south of the city, has long been the subject of intensive discussions between urban planners, architects, politicians and residents. The current state of this road, characterised by the dominance of car traffic and minimal regard for public space or pedestrian movement, is often criticized as unsustainable and inadequate the needs of a modern metropolis. This architectural project presents a proposal for the transformation of a motorway that focuses on traffic calming, enhancing the role of pedestrians and bicycle infrastructure and create a higher quality urban space that will serve the residents of and visitors to Prague.
