DIMPLE OF LIBEŇ

The residential building on Světova Street was built on the footprint of several original plots, preserving the continuity of the historic street line from the 19th century. This line connects the larger scale of the main street with the finer structure of the development towards Na Hrázi Street. The main challenge of the project was to address the differing scales in the surrounding area. The building’s mass is designed to transition smoothly and in a cascading manner, using southwest-oriented terraces to blend into the smaller structures to the south. Deep within the courtyard, there is a gallery with a café, whose design complements the dominant residential building. Together, they form a compact and interconnected courtyard—an intimate space, a kind of dimple in the heart of Libeň.
