NATIONAL CRYSTAL

Design of a beehive represents the ideas of the New scene of the Czech National theatre. The beehive placed in the centre of Prague, seems to be a controversial decision, but exactly for that reason, it’s actually a topic. The condition of nature and population of insect is a clear message about the Earth, so it should be a topic into a centre of Prague as well. The design comes from the principles of brutalism and New scene as an icon: dominance of one material, clear 3D geometry and repeating one intervention into the default material. The glass crystal is hanged in the centre of Václav Havel’s square with the steel cable. Dominant crystal above the square, which doesn’t interfere with public space bellow.
