KOLONIAL – living in the wild

I have designed KOLONIAL–a four-member family house with a shop inside. The building is located in the middle of wild in the centre of Prague (Žižkov freight station area). The main principles of the building are simplicity, legibility and building on the tradition of groceries. The business space–orientated towards the promenade–is clearly separated from the residential part. Its distinctive entrance with a curved shopping window and a signboard communicates the information about its function to passers-by. The simplicity of design is supported by materials used: grey aluminium window frames matching the grey metal roof and white plaster on facades.
