A narrow disposition of the island is the reason for an atypical solution for the boathouse – instead of a classic walk-in floor plan with an entrance on the shorter side of the building, the beams with the racks for the boats are in the middle of the horizontal axis, making the building accessible only from the longer lateral sides, with sliding doors between the modular beams. Thanks to the unusual parcel, a boathouse reminiscent of a cathedral rather than a shipyard was created. This concept is accentuated with the long, thin form and the beams towering into the sky like turrets on a cathedral. To complete the concept of this boathouse as a sanctuary and a tribute to the sport of rowing, the facade of the building is made from fiberglass, from which the ships are made to this day.
