Author's house

Vojtěch Šenekel

Annotation

The object is designed for the writer and his wife, both art lovers. The whole house is thus designed as a gallery with free and generous spaces, which offers inspiration for the author's work. The building tries to preserve as much of the original natural slope as possible and minimize its footprint in it. It is not trying to fight it but to merge into one. So it is largely sunk into the terrain. In only two places is the terrain picking up and creating two large overhangs. One is facing west and the other facing east. This allows natural light to penetrate deeper into the building regardless the time of day. The internal dispositions then unfolded from the light. Where the parts on the 1st floor are facing west, on the contrary, the 2nd floor is facing east.
