STROMOVKA GALLERY

Oliver Štefl

Annotation

The architecture of ancient Egypt includes the monumental architecture of the pharaonic empire until the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great. The preserved monuments are mainly stone temples, tombs and pyramids, which served as inspiration in this project. The great iconic buildings in ancient Egypt were probably the destination of pilgrimages, which is why the Stromovka Gallery is located in a remote part of the park, where it can easily be seen. The concrete construction with only a minimal window area again refers to Egypt, where the sun is over the heads of the people, all day long, and therefore small skylights are used, unlike the large windows we are used to here. The large spaces inside the Gallery refer to monumentality, and also allow space for exhibits and visitor movement.
