PAVILION ŠTVANICE

Jolana Jedličková

Annotation

Peace in the middle of Prague. Štvanice Island is one of the places where one can relax from the noise and mess that everyday life brings. On the eastern side we can find a park but there is no shelter from bad weather which can discourage many island visitors from stopping and resting. My pavilion is based on the natural flow of the island. It is located at the end of the eastern tip and follows its shape. The pavilion can serve as a shelter from the sun, wind or rain. It induces inner peace in a person and is designed for relaxation and connection with nature. The parts of the pavilion intertwine like tree branches or blades of grass. Also the columns replacing the walls in three parts of the pavilion represent tree trunks and openings in the roof lights penetrate through the treetops
