The Gallery of Kamil Lhoták

The inspiration for this project is the painter, graphic artist and illustrator Kamil Lhoták. Like his work the gallery is built on the idea of a clear order, free space and peace. It is composed of basic shapes and as the dominant feature poses the above-ground entrance based on the mysterious tent which appears several times in Lhoták's work. When the visitor enters the underground part an outdoor atrium with an open roof stretches out in front of them. There is an exhibition area around the atrium with a clear structure in which the visitor is always aware of their location. The walls separating the atrium and the exhibition spaces are partially glazed thus bringing natural light into the rooms and optically enlarging the entire space while the walls maintain a certain mystery.
