Vyšehrad - a change of perspective

The building is an ideal reconstruction of the former Gothic gate of Špička. It captures the maximum aspects and functions that the original gate had. The roof offers a view of the Vltava River, the Vyšehrad gates and the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul. The first floor is illuminated only by the ceiling skylight. The sun only reaches the interior for a short time of day. The second floor gives the opportunity to see a framed view of the Vltava River and the Leopold Gate located in the axis of the embrasure. In the project it was important for me to build on the past and use its potential. The dimensions are similar to the original gate, the rest of which remains here. The mass of the building draws attention to the importance of the space we are entering.
