ŠTVANICE PAVILION

The biggest inspiration when drafting the pavilion concept was the location itself. Štvanice is a green paradox nearly in the center of Prague wedged in between the Karlín and Holešovice districts. The local development seems to be random, a product of historical development, but not planning. Hlávkův bridge and the Negrelli viaduct divide the island in partes tres. All these aspects are reflected in the design. I chose landscape as my theme, trying to tie all the views that Štvanice offers into one knot, one pavillion, which the visitors untangles and enjoys, climbing each flight of stairs higher and higher to the top.
