GIACOMETTI GALLERY

Alberto Giacometti, swiss painter and sculptor known thanks to his modern view on traditional sculpture. The first half of 20th century. Most of us know him as surreal artist, some of us know him still as existentialist. He himself didin't feel like either of them. He put his sculptures into bronze cages and his famous statues marked as "men walking throught the empty world". Consept of my gallery, which is situated on the thin town island in the centre of Prague, lies in the Albert's empty world. I cut up the space of the seemingly simple cuboid using imaginary partitions, so that the structure resembled the motif of a cage, which was very essential in the early work of AG. The purpose was to create a labyrinth in a white mist, where people get lost and discover Giacomettio's sculptures.
