Domov na Vltave

The urban dovecote Domov na Vltave is a shelter for seventy-five pigeon pairs. It’s located on Libeňský Island in Prague, near a bridge for pedestrians. The dovecote is a symbol of coexistence between pigeons and people. In the eyes of passers-by, the dovecote rises out of the water, and for children from the local nature kindergarden it serves as a place they frequently visit in order to learn about animals. The building is easily accessible, even in case of floods, thanks to a ladder that leads straight to the main pigeon-populated area.
