HEDGEDOG

The municipal dovecote Ježek dominates one of the main pedestrian corridors in the vicinity of the Smíchovské nábřeží. From the perspective of Vltavská Street, Ježek may seem inapprochable due to the reinforced concrete facade with metal pipes - inlet openings - and a singular circular window. It has a more favorable effect on visitors of the park, who are invited into its bowels via terrace extending southeast into the intersecting sidewalks leading both along the Vltava and perpendicular to it. On of the mitigating elements - a green roof on the top - ends with a birch - a tree symbolizing hope and new beginnings. The contrast of reinforced concrete with greenery and the surrounding historic buildings amazes, perhaps even provokes, and encourages exploration and discovery.
