blooming dovecote

Annotation

The urban dovecote is designed for Ďáblický háj in Prague. It is built in a clearing near an intersection of pedestrian paths and is therefore observed from all angles every day. There are several other buildings in the area, among which the dovecote stands out mainly thanks to its organic form. The most attention grabbing feature are definitely the 'petals' around the perimeter of the dome, which provide the pigeons with a place to sit and observe their surroundings. Similarly, the flight openings are also custom made – they serve both as windows and additional seating space. The dovecote provides its environment with a space where people can learn something new and at the same time be confronted with the reality of the relationship between pigeons and humans.
