The Daur Labyrinth

Teodor Hasala

Annotation

The Daur Labyrinth aims at healing the soul, following the idea of the ancient kalokagatha. You go from the outer world (garden labyrinth) to the bottom of your mind (building). The long circular corridors at the beginning are an allegory of the horizon beyond which our unconscious begins. The inner part of the labyrinth, in contrast to the first corridors built in the harmony of the circle, consists of a chaotic tangle of hallways that represents our own soul, well hidden behind the wall of the poker face. It's all dark here, so you must rely on your instincts thus reach the deepest places of the mind. At the heart of the labyrinth is an atrium protected by a mighty oak, a symbol of knowledge. In Celtic mythology, the oak (Daur) is the door to other worlds, here it's doors to your soul.
