MOUNTAIN BATHS

Richard Hubička

Annotation

The design focuses on the contrast between the precise lines of the building and the uneven natural cave, creating a unique space for a mountain spa. The entire spa complex is set below ground, and by descending a wide staircase to the main entrance, visitors enter an area where they can look directly into the cave itself. In this entrance area there are stairs leading down to the second underground level. The gallery cuts through the cave from the side, giving a view of the whole cave. In the cave itself there is an area for relaxation and bathing. The whole area is brightly lit by skylights. In the uneven cave, these skylights are made in the form of architectural cracks, while the exact part of the building is illuminated by straight strips of light that lift the walls.
