TRIBUTE TO ADOLF LOOS

Martina Šrámková

Annotation

The design of the Lions Gate CTU building was created in accordance with the planned completion of the 4th quadrant of Vítězné náměstí in Dejvice, Prague 6, and serves as an introduction to the campus. The building is inspired by the work of Adolf Loos, based on his work The House of Tristan Tzara. The main elements are symmetry, geometry and the use of the Raumplan principle. These elements are also used in the design, the walls are divided by columns, pillars and cornices, the arrangement of openings is mostly symmetrical. The openings allow a view through the whole building. The building is divided into two parts connected by a staircase in the centre of the whole building. The dominant part is the gallery, the the second part is a hall with an IC, the lower floor houses the café area.
