REFUGA

Refuga - artist residences with studios create a new artistic outlet in the Vavrouška area. Originally, there was a homestead with extensive orchards here, now it is just a wasteland waiting for the return of civilization. The newly established park aims to restore the lost orchard to the area. My design disrupts the impression of the orchard with its form, so I buried it into the slope. It became a semi-submerged bunker for two artist families, serving as a refuge for a private and safe life hidden in the "fuge" (hole). The studios remain on the surface, thus separating the functions of the building. Thanks to the form concept, atriums for natural lighting were created naturally by aligning the complex floor plan into a rectangle.
