LIGHTSTONE

Jakub Klečka

Annotation

The lighthouse wants to be seen and it arises from desire for safety (certainty). In this case it obtains its visibility by mass itself and this mass also promises that desired safety. The motive is a megalith - an object that raises and then becomes district - solitary. The main material of this twenty-one meter high megalith is reinforced concrete. Thanks to the twist above the first floor and skylight at the top is the lighthouse divided into three traditional parts: base, shaft and head. The windows on facede are designed to be stack above each other, but with different shapes an height it breaks regularity and keeps the impression of stone. The whole building is divided into three sections: living area (pernament habitation for lighthouse keeper), technical area and the light.
