Sophie’s choice

Annotation
The design is inspired by the powerful story of Sophie from William Styron's novel. The building is divided into two main parts, symbolizing Sophie's life - the past and the future. These two parts are connected, but each is designed differently, reflecting the choice the character faces. The first part, the cylinder, is bright and minimalist. It symbolizes Sophie's life, which seemed simple. The second part, the block, is darker. The large, empty space symbolizes her life after she had to make a difficult, painful choice. The footbridge located almost at the bottom of this space reflects her feelings just before her death. Between these parts is the gallery of choice. This space is geometrically complicated, expressing conflict and change. Here we can see both parts of building.
