Gulf

The solution called Gulf, for the assignment of a pieta on Ptačí vrch near Vranov nad Dyjí, is to serve as a place of rest, meditation and at the same time to offer a view of the Vranov castle and the valley where Vranov itself is located. The aim was not to cut the pieta off from the surrounding landscape, but rather to place it in it. The ground plan of the building respects the pre-established network of the local plum orchard. The water theme processed here can be seen in the rounded corners, and how the supporting structure of the pieta somehow "embraces and absorbs" the space for visitors.
