Opening Roof

Veselí nad Lužnící is a city located in South Bohemia, being the confluence of the rivers Lužnice and Ness.

The Cultural centre of the town is located in a strategic place as it is in the middle of the two urbanized áreas, in a green zone that allows being the link between the two places. Currently, the building does not have a good connection with the surroundings, and it does not have a clear entrance. For the rehabilitation of the Cultural centre, the main idea is to maintain the essence of the building itself, trying not to change that much the structure, and keeping the materials of the ancient building.

The proposal consists of emphasising the characteristics windows of the cultural centre by adding a new roof, which will generate open spaces of double and triple heights, as well as a new light to the building, that will change and enhance the place.
