The Wall

The intervention starts from the idea of establishing a barrier to protect the buildings and the park from the intense traffic of the street. This irregular wall breaks the rigid geometry of the nearby buildings, that generally follow the direction of the river, and serves as a unifying element between the cultural center and the dwellings, which at first sight are perceived as independent blocks. In the wall there is an inversion of the traditional notions of public and private space. The public gangways are situated in the interior side of the barrier. To enjoy the fantastic location of the project while they stay isolated from the traffic noise, the apartments are provided with private balconies.
