Flybox+

The project was about designing a film school and a residence for students in the residential neighborhood of Flora. The project is located on a 110m x 60m rectilinear site with a large water-tank in the site with a small green mound around the tank. There are existing buildings around the tank which had to be preserved, and the core idea was to build over the tank. The project is divided in two buildings, dorm and school, divided unequally because of the programmatic requirements. And to create some dynamics-drama, we decided to incline the school facade. The inclined facades added a sculptural value to the project. The principle was to have a steel trussed structure with large cantilevers to create the effect of a flying box.
