The research will focus on the potential of pilot projects (urban experiments) to support the organizational and social learning of the actors involved and the ability to capture and mediate this learning. The project will evaluate several selected projects with regard to how the individual experience of the actors involved and the official outputs of the project differ and to what extent the projects were of practical benefit to the involved cities The aim of the project is to map the experiences of actors of urban innovation projects that used pilot projects and urban experimenters. Emphasis is placed on how these projects support organizational learning within the organizations involved what role they can play in understanding the organizational, procedural and social aspects of urban innovations. The research is a partial part of the research carried out within the dissertation work of Tomáš Vácha under the guidance of Jiří Plos, which also includes an analysis of the Czech experience with pilot projects. The project will help gain a valuable overview of the effectiveness and good and bad practices in the use of urban experiments and support their effective use in the future. An additional goal is to support the ongoing cooperation with the University of Manchester and to develop a common research topic "Process learning" - process learning is a concept that we are currently developing in collaboration with the team of Prof. James Evans and which focuses on the description of the learning process through direct or indirect involvement in an urban experiment with an emphasis on gaining knowledge about the processes and organizational changes associated with the process of innovation in a particular area of how the city works.

In order to increase the standard of building culture, the architects' presence by the implementation of generally accepted principles, including particular measures (eg. architectural competition), is crucial. The architect can act in different roles/positions, which is reflected, in particular, by the phenomenon of town/city architects. It is great that the number of local political representations caring for a high-quality built environment is increasing, but municipalities often have unrealistic qualification prerequisites on architects interested in working in public administration. The purpose of this project is to thoroughly analyse the current situation regarding the number of architects and their qualifications in the Czech Republic and to confront that with the need for institutional capacity within the public administration.

Qualitative research and evaluation of current tendencies with representatives of city borroughs focusing on chosen issues regarding governance, spatial planning and development strategies. Project focuses on problems and potentials connected to planning and decisionmaking processes within "big and small city borroughs" from the perspective of public administration. Research deals with expectations, presumptions, consequences connected to decisionmaking in certain area and problems with realisation of certain agendas (management of property, education, culture, social issues) and cooperation with other subjects and stakeholders. To be able to implement the project the crosssectoral cooperation is needed with sociologists and experts within public administration. Output of the project will consist of structured and semistructured interviews with mayors (chosen representatives of city and city departments and administration), questionnaires (open and closed questions) and evaluation with suggestions.
