LIBRARY MILAN

The thesis deals with the design of a university library in Milan. The subject of the design is an unfinished block close to the historical centre. In the belt between the circuits of the city walls. The challenge is to complete the block, following the existing buildings of the University of Milan UNIMI, San Rafael and Societa Umanitaria Milano. The aim of the project is to create a new student disciplinary centre. An information hub embedded in the fabric of the city and in the centre of gravity of the UNIMI faculties' residences, completing the block of classrooms of the SUM and the Faculty of Law. The library will take over part of the specialized literature from the Milanese collections, a large part of the collections of the UNIMI faculties addressed and the funds of the humanitarian society Societa Umanitaria Milano, whose buildings it connects to.
