House with library in Karlín

Diploma project solves completion of the corner parcel at the metro station Křižíkova Prague Karlin. The draft is based on the historical value and it is a response to the current trend in construction in this site. The aim is to define againts the extensive construction of office buildings, which changes the character of the area. The main symbol is the "books in the shelf." This theme is reflected in both exposed facades. Design combines respect for the past with contemporary architecture. The functions are library, culture and education. The building has 2 underground floors and 6  aboveground floors. The ground floor is commercial space.  The library is situated from the second to the fifth floor in the northern part of the building and  in the southern part are facilities and classrooms. On the sixth floor is exhibition space.
