Annotation

The project New Petr´s Chalet replaces a complex of buildings with more than two hundred years of tradition, situated between Špindlerův Mlýn and Dívčí kameny, which burned down in the year 2011. It is located on a crossroads of tourist paths 4 199 feet above the sea level. The project enters the natural environment of The Krkonoše Mountains National Park with shapes that are unusual from the construction point of view, however, are very natural from the perspective of landscape and wildlife. Two humongous pebble stones “lay in grass” of the southeast slope placed precisely on the spot of the two original buildings. The basement of the oldest - third - building remained partly undestroyed and the project completes it into a restaurant with hinterland, including traditional option of seating both on partly windowed terraces or outside. All three objects are connected with an underground tunnel. Organic new buildings serve to accommodate guests – the larger as a hotel, the smaller as a tourist lodge. The interiors and the supporting structure of the “pebbles” are made of wood and energetically active cladding is made of titanium plate due to severe climatic conditions. The cladding is partly covered with photovoltaic arrays. A minor pumped-storage hydroelectric power station situated on the Červený potok, wetland wastewater purifier, rainwater collectors and a garage for equipment storage in the stone body of the original wasteland purifier are designed as a part of the project.
