Semily - Řeky - Between the City and Landscape

The town Semily is situated in the region of Podkrkonoší and is remembering on the glory of the past. The only thing which remained in existence from the time of prosperity of large industrial factories is the administrative importance of Semily. In my Master’s thesis I was interested in the Semily - Řeky which was in the past an important part of the pulsing city due to the huge textile factory, together with the attached housing estate. Currently, in this area can be found the dilapidated textil mill with attached colonies, a no man's land and the housing estate. As a part of my thesis I tried to understand this area and suggest a solution that would brush this area up, intercommunicate parts of the island between one another and even the island itself with its surroundings. I paid close attention to the conceptual solution of the housing estate where one third of the population of Semily lives nowadays. I worked with the surrounding territory of the floodplain as well, which I tried to transform from a small-scale industry into the area for housing
