Milano Library

Biblioteca Milano. Dignified and unobtrusive to the street, solid and respectful on closer inspection, complementing the neglected park. A park in the centre of the city surrounded by parked cars, unmaintained, unused, unwelcoming with the potential to improve and to restore the pedestrian promenade of the previous century. For the site I propose a public institution - a library accessible to the general public complementing the tree grid, not impeding movement in the park and with minimal ground plan intervention, a library that forms a gateway from the street to the park archipelago, a place for study in the treetops with a peaceful atmosphere with spaces of varying scale and mood.
