Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation

War Bunker was an important part of modern fortification and anti-aircraft protection not just of Prague but the whole country as well. It's origin and purpose is related to the period known as the Cold War, in which it struck a key role. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, this technically sophisticated, complex and top secret building lost it's purpose. Later on the Czech army declared the building redundant, and by 2009 it was left completely vacant. The diploma project poses the question of how to approach military heritage and military as a whole. Project offers an example of plausible approach. Project explores whether a suitable adaptation or conversion of such space could lead to it's revitalization and thus make use of it's potential, undoubtedly inherent to the building in question.
