Broumovsko, a region in northeastern Bohemia, is an area with a long history, picturesque landscapes, mysterious rock towns, and rich architectural heritage. The Broumovsko region is characterized by long strip villages featuring beautiful classical farmhouses of the Broumov type. My work focuses on a farmhouse in the village of Šonov. This farmhouse was built in 1830 by Franz Kahler on the site of an older building. According to historical sources, it was originally a courtyard farmhouse composed of four buildings. The courtyard was surrounded by the main residential house, a retirement cottage, a shed, and a half-timbered barn. The descendants of Franz Kahler lived in the farmhouse until 1946. After World War II, during the process of expelling the German population from the Sudetenland, the family had to leave Šonov and the farmhouse. Since then, the farmhouse has fallen into disrepair, and today only half of it remains - the main residential house and the retirement cottage. In my project, I propose to complement these two buildings to restore the mass of the homestead to its original courtyard arrangement. I propose the renovation and new uses for the existing buildings. I am placing accommodations, a restaurant, and a workshop with a garage in the new buildings. The project also includes the design of a garden, which involves solving access roads, parking, planting an orchard, shrubs, establishing a vegetable and flower garden, arranging terraces by the buildings, and placing a fireplace.
