Apartment Building

The city of Plzen has a beautifully preserved historic center, but also many neglected and forgot places from the intersection of Mze and Radbuza rivers to the main train station. It was precisely these scars caused by traffic infrastructure and development without a deeper concept that our studio dealt with. On the banks of Radbuza river between the city center and the main station, near the brewery, there is a large clear spot where the Inwest Cultural Center used to stand. A large and very important part of the city remains unused. The studio developed a large study of the reconstruction of this part of the city, within which a new city quarter with a square is being designed. My plot is stretched from the wide Americka street to this new square. Inside, the mass of the house consists of three parts, three communication cores, which are directly connected to the underground parking lot. The neighbors on both sides are also apartment buildings. From the side of the square, the entire block is connected by a 4 meter wide archway. The house also fulfills some social function, it has a small gallery on the ground floor, accessible from the square.
