Public Library Lanškroun

I designed a public library in Lanškroun, a town located in the east of Bohemia near the Orlické Mountains. The library is located near the main square and the surroundings offer different panoramic views. I tried to support those by designing both terraces and easily accessible green roofs. Different height levels play an important role in the design, as they respond to the surroundings and support the use of cascading stairs offering informal and flexible spaces for collaboration and social interaction. In addition to the library there is a bookstore, a café and a quiet distant place to study. Inside the library there is an open outdoor space which can be seen from every part of the building, making it the heart and main motive of it.
