The Houštka Island

Houštka is a preserved wilderness in the floodplain of the river Elbe in Stará Boleslav. The history of the whole area dates back to the seventeenth century. Since then, it has undergone various transformations. The royal game reserve, the spa complex, the dormitories of Charles University. These times are gone and now Houštka is looking for a new direction. Revitalization of streams, restoration of floodplain forest, permeability of the landscape, recreation of the inhabitants. These are the main topics which we focused on this semester. We are looking for a new strategy of development of this area.
