The gallery of modern art, The book archive

Petr Preis

Annotation

I present the designs of two civic buildings, a book archive and a gallery of modern art. Both of these buildings are located in Prague on the Rohan Island. When you head from the Invalidovna metro station towards the Vltava river, you first come across the archive building. When viewed from the street, the building acts as a monolithic whole. The exterior façade is made of translucent concrete, Litracon, which allows the sun to flow into the building throughout the day without worrying about damage to the stored files. On the contrary, at night, the luminous flux turns and the structure illuminates its surroundings with dim light. For occasional relaxation, the archive staff can use the roof garden, which is located in the 11th century.
