Ny-Ålesund

Annotation

The location of the project is a small Nordic town Ny-Ålesund. The town which currently hosts numerous research stations was founded as a mining town and served as the starting point for attempts to reach the North Pole by air. The task was to design an airship hangar which would stand on the same site as the historical hangar which was used by Roald Amundsen and Umberto Nobile during their expeditions. My design reflects an airships construction by its shape and transverse division, it respects the hierarchy of transverse and longitudinal elements.
