Annotation

The origin of Veleslavín dates back to the 10th century, the first mention of the village is related to the establishment of a monastery in Břevnov. The name probably comes from the name Veleslav. During the Hussite wars, Veleslavín was captured by the people of Prague and it thus became the property of the Old Town. In the 16th century, the extensive courtyard was owned by Štěpán Adam of Veleslavín, father of the writer and book printer Daniel Adam of Veleslavín. The water house dates from 1555, which was part of the water supply system bringing water from the Libocká to the Castle. Veleslavínská Street, which led to the Strahov Gate, is the main venue for Veleslavín. There is also an original village square with two preserved homesteads and a bell tower, in 1730, the castle was built.
