Story of Memories

A columbarium is a structure for the respectful storage of funerary urns. It holds cremated remains of the deceased and should help in the grieving process. This ensemble intended for mourning the loss of loved ones should be appropriate for the occasion. My design deals with the question, what a respectable place of solace where loved ones can visit those that have passed on, should look like. The monumental design implements a distributed structure, where you can walk and look through. It displays the equality that denies any form of competition on a graveyard. However, the special feature is that the structure changes over time. Each element tells the story of a person, each column tells the story of a family, and all together make an endless story about us.
