Opava's Ringstrasse

The appearance of the city was influenced during 2nd world war when part of Opava was destroyed, and the subsequent rebuilding era, which does not respect the original structure of the historic core, its importance and relationship to the surrounding city. Today, Opava suffers from poor quality public spaces, especially on the perimeter of the former fortification wall. The aim is to achieve the quality and continuity of movement on the border between the historic part of Opava and suburbs and to create a pleasant divide from the current traffic barrier located on the road ring. It's important to create a clear connection between the city and its river, which is currently lacking. Extension of the green belt defines the historic city's boundaries encouraging a smooth and safe mobility.
