Life brings sad moments. One of them is undoubtedly the death of a loved one. Nearby the Kladno crematorium, I created The Path of Farewell. A path through the forest leads the bereaved to the tree chapel. The outdoor space intended for ceremonies offers a bright place not only in the forest. I am also expanding the existing crematorium building with new spaces for the funeral ceremony. The entire building is newly framed by walls of semi-permeable mirrors. The crematorium therefore remains hidden, but offers a new quality – a view of the surrounding nature. The Path of Farewell passes through a restored cherry orchard, which allows ashes to be placed to the roots of newly planted trees. This path, complete with art objects, refers to the tradition of funeral processions.
