Summer House of Bohumil Hrabal

Ing. arch. Eliška Houdová

Annotation

It was 1965, Bohumil Hrabal bought a large plot of land from the Trnkovy sisters in the Kersko cottage settlement in Central Bohemia, on which a weekend cottage had stood since 1940. Hrabal rebuilt it in his own image. It was here on the typewriter of the Consul brand that his world-renowned literature was born. The goal of the project is the sensitive restoration of the writer Bohumil Hrabal's cottage in Kersko, which was recently added to the list of cultural monuments. The study also includes an architectural, functional and operational solution of the interior, enabling the cottage to be opened to the public. The whole design is based on the research of the object and the understanding of the preserved values.
