Farmstead Loukov

In the centre of the conservation area of the village of Loukov there is a building called "tool room", originally a cultural house built in the 1980s on the site of a demolished farmstead, which does not fit in well with the surrounding timbered houses. Could this place be used better and with more respect for history? The new design seeks to relate sensitively to the surrounding buildings but does not return to traditional building practices. The scale, shape or plan is inspired by the surrounding farmhouses. The aim is to show how the local village typology can be used to make it suitable for today's users. The result is three buildings with a restaurant, accommodation, cultural spaces or housing for the owners, connected by a common courtyard and surrounded by orchards.
