Annotation

The railway embankment in Náchod allows rail traffic access to the city and previously protected the city from frequent floods. As alternative flood protection measures exist in places today, for example, it is losing its original purpose and today it is trying to find a new use. The embankment is a dividing line between the inner and outer city, preventing dialogue between the two parts. The new shape of the railway divide aims to open up and revitalize not only its forecourt, but also to create links with the rest of the city and its immediate surroundings. New opportunities are emerging on multiple levels, architectural, urban and social.
