Annotation

Although the wider area is predominantly block structure, the immediate surroundings of the site are defined more by the proximity of the railway and busy road. Neighbouring buildings are juxtaposed to the public space as solitaires, creating a specific atmosphere. The ensemble is composed of 10 sections and as a whole forms a paraphrase of the block. Unlike the block, the structure does not form corners, but instead recedes at the corners, leaving four patches of different characters. The expression of the building is defined by the strictly regular pattern of windows and loggias and a material solution that adopts some significant elements of Vršovice, such as the ceramic tiling in the parterre and the coarser cream plaster.
