Glass fishing sinkers

Annotation

Lead is toxic. We have known this for a long time and so we stopped using it for our kitchenware and plumbing. In the world of angling however, it is still commonplace to use lead sinkers. This way a lot of lead gets lost in and around bodies of water, where it has direct negative impact on the wildlife. In this project, I refer to a 2003 study conducted in Canada in the 90´s detailing the scale and impact of lead pollution from lost lures and sinkers. The data presented in this paper only further assured me that finding a suitable replacement for lead in fishing tackle is a necessity.
