THE STUDENT CITY

Pragovka is located in Vysočany, Prague 9. The site of the former automobile factory has a long history and has had various forms over the decades. Opposite one of the preserved factories (now E Factory), I have designed student housing. It is based on a combination of shared and private spaces, both for living and leisure. I imagine life in the building as a little Italy of sorts. It has a communal character. People know each other and share spaces for leisure and relaxation. The mass of the building is based on a 4x4m grid. It is not a closed block but rather a playful structure that interacts with the surroundings while creating a protected space for its residents.
