Canal

A multifunctional building that complements the needs of Smíchov as a place for living and leisure. Its form creates a dominant feature in a location where thousands of cars pass by every day. Thanks to the diverse terrain, the building has two independent entrances and functions. It offers a sports center accessible from the south and a cultural center to the north, near Plzeňská Street. The main part of the cultural center is a library with study rooms and a gallery. The design completes the block with the Gymnázium Na Zatlance building and at the same time, it responds to the needs of the high school by proposing a spacious cafeteria and two sports halls. The resulting block is crossed by a so-called "canal", allowing for a shortcut through the courtyard between culture and sports.
